Bill Gates’s 11 Rules of Life

June 19, 2008 By: Nepthaly Talavera Category: facts, infotech, wisdom, work 10 Comments →

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school.  He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

the reason we have life

June 07, 2008 By: Nepthaly Talavera Category: emotions, wisdom 8 Comments →

you have to see your own importance
live…
no matter what…
there is nothing important in this world than life
you have to do your very best right up until you die
live a good life and then, you’ll find your most important person
your very important person
and that person whom you treasure more than anything, will be your strength
you’ll grow accustomed to their kindness…
they’ll bring peace of mind…

and whenever you face real troubles,
i will be there to help you…
i will… i promise…
i will always watch over you
i will always be your supporter
i will make a miracle…
so you would not die.
keep this in mind…
for human beings, life isn’t the same thing as living…
it’s because we want to live…
that is the reason we have life.

java – Help!

Stay away from Java before your work-out

according to a study by Swiss scientists, caffeine decreases blood flow to the heart during exercise by as much as 39 percent.  when you increase your activity level, coronary arteries expand to let in more oxygen-carrying blood.  however, when participants consumed 200 milligrams of caffeine(the equivalent of two cups of coffee) about an hour before working out, the process was inhibited.  If you have a family history of heart disease, it is suggested to avoid caffeine for four to five hours before exercise.

fry your biceps

seated dumbbell curls:

it’s easy for even the most serious of trainers to find himself cheating with standing dumbbell curls. the most common pattern is to unconsciously lean into the working arm as you curl, shortening the range of motion. to prevent this and force you to do the rep more strictly, simply do your dumbell curls sitting down, preferably on a seated bench with back support. you may be humbled to discover that you have to lighten up the weights as tad, but it’s a fair trade off. your biceps will have no choice but to pick up the slack and work their little biceps butts off.
